Statement

Hubby’s art expresses her interest in metaphysical, mystical, and spiritual principles, arm in arm with her devotion to play and transformation. She has explored a myriad of topics with humor in tow, including: devotion to spiritual hygiene through 21 days of Blissipline at Agape, the power of words through Positively Earnest, an artFULL investigation of marriage through Get Hubbied, dating through scent (Love Potion No. 9), and Breast Cancer’s upside through Thanks for The Mammaries. Hubby finds joy in collaborating, creating bonding experiences, bringing diverse communities together, and in seeking out unconventional exhibition spaces, such as a construction site (Dig the Dig), an erotic museum (The Sexual Bronze Show), a 3-month storefront (the Eagle Rock Rock and Eagle Shop), online curation (CURATORIAL HUB), her own backyard (Dr. Ben Hubby’s Christmas Party), a giant rock (Googly Eyes at Giant Rock), a wall over a highway (ABRACADABRA), and her own version of the White House Lawn. Next up is a whole-hearted collaboration and ADD-venture with her family called (INWORDOUT), as well as an Art-o-biography, and a new series of laughter paintings.

“My artistic journey has closely mirrored and partnered with my ongoing personal transformation. My drive to create is the exponential benefit that art can have on oneself and on others. Literally, my art medium and method shifted from black tar and aloneness to rainbow paint and people, and my life did the same as I en-lightened up from the inside out. Looking back on my many selves, I see the ‘wisdom born of pain’ progress (quoting Helen Reddy’s I am Woman) and the ideas born of inspiration - the latter of course is more fun, though the former, vital. The GOOD NEWS is, I have gained unparalleled perspective on what a treasure it is to be alive and in connection with others. I am increasingly devoted to being a co-CHEER-leader, harnessing aesthetic transformational magic, i.e. art, that can shift perspectives, bring uplift, and change our inner and outer worlds.” ~ Hubby
